BARCELONA’S NEW URBAN ART CONQUERS IBIZA

ADDA Gallery, with the support of Montana Colors, builds a virtual bridge between Ibiza and Barcelona with the exhibition "Fresco, Fresco!", bringing the freshest names of a new generation of Barcelona urban artists to the Balearic Island.
Adda Gallery Ibiza is located at the Hotel Paradiso, located in the tourist area of Es Caló in the Bay of Portmany, which we mentioned recently in MTN News. Paradiso defines itself as an "Art Hotel" which perhaps doesn’t do justice to the gallery. Not only is it a marvel of architecture and interior design where art is shown and appreciated, but in a way, it also produces and inspires it. It is, without doubt, one of the most significant open secrets in the last few years of visual arts in Ibiza. The shows at this special space are curated by the same person who runs the Montana Gallery Barcelona: Anna Dimitrova, who has used her significant contacts in the Barcelona scene to take over to the White Island. Nicasio Torres, Noble, Tiago Majuelos, Zion Town Kids, Berni Puig, Dirty, Dune, Galleta Maria, Gemma Fontanals, Irino, Numi, Kamil Escruela and Martí Sawe make up the crew that represents a new wave of urban art in Barcelona.  An unparalleled stylistic diversity that ranges from illustration to street graffiti, expressionism and conceptual art. Fresco, Fresco! is more than just a peek into Barcelona's street art scene. It is confirmation that Barcelona remains a melting pot of creative potential that is developing with a more defined local style than ever. For more than two decades, the great names that have championed Catalan urban art have successfully transitioned into the commercial scene, meaning the evolution of new forms of expression has been gradual and limited. The show at the Adda Gallery represents a turning point, not by framing a specific batch of artists, but as a manifestation of the urban creative versatility of the city, which seems to be in rude health. We have the ship, the origin, the destination, the wind in our sails and a crew eager for color, light and art, produced by the dozen artists who perfectly embody the contemporary currents from the streets of Barcelona. With the vision and direction of the curator Anna Dimitrova, Fresco, Fresco! is an exhibition of Barcelona’s most fashionable talent in Ibiza.
