Social media recognition

I became interested in graffiti culture by the time social media already existed for years and I noticed more and more accounts/blog/pages dedicated to graffiti culture and the people behind it.

This eventually led to graffiti artists having their own accounts with pictures of their work and basically their artistic routines. What happens now is that street art photography pages, and/or individuals interested in street art, can easily interact with artists by tagging them or dming them so it puts a "face" to the name, meaning that the whole concept of anonimity for the average person "not in the scene" is almost completely gone.

On one hand I like to see more content from my local graffiti/street artists because I get to see what tools they use and how, skills, tricks and ideas; on the other hand I feel like graffiti transformed into another competition: to be featured on social media more than to leave a trace/be known but not recognized/express yourself freely= anonymously/...

What do you think?
